Cobblestone Chin
When speaking, swallowing, or tensing, some people show an uneven, dimpled texture on the chin. The cause is the mentalis muscle, whose fibres pull the overlying skin inward at individual points.

Indications
What this treatment is suited for
- A dimpled, uneven chin surface at rest and under tension
- Visible skin dimpling while speaking
- A pronounced horizontal chin crease
Mechanism
How the treatment works
The mentalis muscle pulls the soft tissue of the chin upward and inward. Reducing its tension removes that point-by-point pull on the skin — the chin surface stays calmer even under tension. The horizontal crease above the chin often relaxes as well.
Procedure
The treatment procedure
The chin is assessed at rest and under deliberate tension to gauge the extent and distribution of muscle activity. One to two injections in the lower chin area follow. The procedure takes approximately 30 minutes.
Aftercare
After the treatment
Remain upright for a few hours, avoid massaging the chin area, no sports or sauna on the day of treatment.
Risks and side effects
Mild redness, swelling, or small bruises at the injection sites are possible. If placement is too high, temporary changes in lower-lip movement can occur.
Contraindications
Not suitable for certain neuromuscular disorders, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, or in the presence of infections in the treatment area.
Questions about the treatment
Frequently asked questions
Can this be combined with chin contouring?
Yes. Muscular relaxation and structural volume with hyaluronic acid address different causes and often complement each other. Whether both make sense is assessed during the analysis of the lower face.
