Mechanism

How the treatment works

Platelet-rich plasma is isolated from a small blood sample in a centrifuge. On the scalp, the growth factors it contains target the hair follicles: the aim is to prolong the growth phase and improve the follicles' supply. The follicles have to be there — what is stimulated is what remains.

Procedure

The treatment procedure

After a small blood draw, the plasma is prepared in a centrifuge. It is placed with a mesogun, which keeps depth and quantity constant. This distributes the plasma across the area more evenly than injections by hand, and shortens the part of the treatment people find uncomfortable. The affected area is treated specifically. A session takes approximately 45 minutes. For the best results, three to four sessions four weeks apart are recommended.

Aftercare

After the treatment

Mild redness of the scalp is normal for the first few days. Wash hair the following day; avoid sauna and strong sun exposure for several days.

Risks and side effects

Redness, swelling, or small bruises at the injection sites are possible. Since the body's own material is used, allergic risk is very low.

Contraindications

Not suitable during pregnancy and breastfeeding, in the presence of infection or inflammatory conditions of the scalp, with coagulation disorders, or with certain blood conditions. In scarring alopecia, or in areas with no remaining follicles, treatment is not sensible — there is nothing left to stimulate.

Is PRP/PRF a fully natural procedure?

Yes, only your own body's material is used — no foreign substances are involved.

What is PRP/PRF for hair suited to — and what not?

It makes sense with thinning hair as long as the follicles are still present. Where scarring has occurred or no follicles remain, there is nothing to stimulate. What applies to you is assessed during the consultation, based on the scalp and hair density.

When will I see a change?

After three months at the earliest, because the change follows the hair growth cycle rather than the treatment. Three to four sessions four weeks apart are planned; assessment comes after those, not between them.

Does PRP/PRF replace a hair transplant?

No. PRP/PRF works with the follicles that are still there — it does not add new ones. Where nothing grows any more, a transplant is recommended, not PRP/PRF. What makes sense in your case is assessed from the scalp and hair density during the consultation.
